MS Word won the marketplace battle over WordPerfect many years ago, but they still have yet to match one of WordPerfect’s most useful features: The ability to create easily-invoked macros to type repeated words or phrases automatically. Oklahoma lawyer Shawn Roberts explains that the Mac mobile operating system at least partially restores this function:
2. Keyboard Shortcuts. One of the neat features in iOS 5 is the ability to shortcuts which usually means a couple of letters that the iPhone recognizes and inserts a longer phrase. For instance, I added “drv” as a shortcut for the phrase “I’m driving, I will call you back when my vehicle is no longer in motion“. The shortcuts have a lot of uses and quick text or email responses is but one.You can find the settings for shortcuts by going: Settings -> General -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts At the bottom of the page.
Mr. Lawson,
I really appreciate you mentioning my post on iOS keyboard shortcuts on your blog! These are small but very handy little timesaving tips.

Sometimes it’s the “small” tips that wind up saving you the most time. That was true with WordPerfect macros, and it’s true with your tips.
I love your blog. You are one of the few lawyers who really understands this medium and knows how to make it work for them.
